Fair Deal on the DUP-Sinn Fein Debacle

Fair Deal has always provided in depth coverage and has a piece on Our Kingdom that sets out the achievements from the DUP's St Andrews Agreement and teases out the current state of play in the Northern Ireland Executive.

I don't really have much time to give a response but a few observations:

  • Yes, keep Sinn Fein away from the negotiating table. In saying that the British and Irish governments need to take heed of Northern Ireland. What are Sinn Fein crying over?
  • Pete Baker will be happy with target dates and deadlines.
  • How about an arbitrary date for devolution of P&J? After the 'lifetime' of the current assembly?
  • The DUP have as much riding on devolution as Sinn Fein does and both parties can do the brinkmanship well. Who has who over the table at the minute? Mutual vetoes are just that.
